The Kórnik Castle near Poznań, located on the lake shore, surrounded by a magnificent park (arboretum) is considered one of the most beautiful castles in Poland and is also known, among others, from the legend of the White Lady.
The legend has it that in the Kórnik castle just before midnight an 18th-century portrait of Teofila from Działyński comes to life. The woman in a beautiful white dress comes down from the painting and heads to the castle terrace. At midnight, she meets a knight on a black horse and walks with him through the gardens overseeing her estates. This is the White Lady, the most famous ghost of Greater Poland.
